Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
- John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1917 - 1963
I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.

here comes one now

woke up nice and early with a slight hangover from the four beers i had the night before. todd showed up. we all walked to cj's to grab some food and i couldn't eat a bite. i left todd and shea there so i could hurry back to the house to purge. after that i was fine. i ate most of my breakfast then and todd and i hit the road. drove to chickasabogue park in prichard. the trails were immaculate. it was the second time i've been there, the first being right after hurricane ivan and the trails then were destroyed. we followed the cemetery loop and crossed under i-65 and then started up the i-65 trail. just after the small creek crossing we ended up having to turn around and walk back to the van. then we went to cadence 120 and then to the mellow mushroom for some pizza. then back to the house. sometimes things were just meant to go differently than you planned. how could anyone get mad at that, right?

good guys

so, sometimes in the morning, when i'm feeling particularly froggy i stop in at pitzman's bakery and pick up breakfast for myself. most of their stuff is leaning towards the expensive side of the fence, but it's worth it. really. i stopped this morning and picked up two ham & cheese croissants. for me they are the edible equivalent of riding a brooks saddle: a little heavy, but worth every penny.
now, i realize the picture that has the keyboard in it is darker than it should be, but i don't care. the only reason i included it was to show the scale of my breakfast in comparison to something that people are familiar with. i mean, look at the picture. now look down in front of you at your keyboard. now look back at the picture and get those wheels spinning.
anyway, i'm stoked on croissants right now.
of course, we are still in hell
cashing in
well, yesterday was shea's birthday. just one of the many days in the weeklong annual birthday festival that is held in her honor. i asked her what she wanted to do, where she wanted to go. all she wanted was an grilled cheese and a salad from the Oar House. so we walked down there and grabbed up a table. first off, our waitress was crap. the place was virtually empty and the service was still bad. secondly, we were told shea couldn't get her grilled cheese sandwich because it's on the kids menu. seriously? so no grilled cheese and a crappy waitress and a sixty dollar bill for a salad, my grouper sandwich, a pitcher of yeungling, and two bushwhackers. remind me to never go to the Oar House again.
in other news...for christmas shea gave me the minor threat complete discography on cd and i have been listening to it almost nonstop since. i had this album when i was in high school. then i had it again a little later. and now finally i have it again. this has to be somewhere on the top ten list of best albums ever. so good.

don't be alarmed folks

from the weekend this way comes. or something like that anyway.
it was beautiful on sunday, about 75 and not a cloud in the sky. took maybe out to the woods for a ride and didn't get a consecutive ten minutes on the bike without a phone call or someone stopping me in the trail to chat or something like that. then a break pad slipped off when i was flipping my rear wheel to ride a loop in fixed gear form. so i packed it in for the day and took shea and her parents to go eat some sushi as sort of a pre-birthday feast for shea. it was so much food and so good. monday was more of the same weather, sunny and i think it hit about 77 degrees. then tuesday came and it was pouring rain and about 40 degrees with about a 15 mph wind. then today it's clear (right now anyway) and about 38 degrees. well, that wraps up the weather report.

may i be excused?
so i hate my job. well, that's not totally true. i actually like my job for the most part, but some of the folks around here are going to drive me postal.
anyway, yesterday was pan-wu's birthday so shea and i met her and some of her family at monterrey's for some mexican food. i think i'm still full from all of the chips and salsa. i managed to snag a handfull of good pictures, most of them are of ari though. she's a nerd for the camera. but some other pictures came out ok too.
also, refinishing the tanks for shea's dad. i started the stripping yesterday. so far so good.

a massive chandelier hangs

sunday morning we went to brunch at zea's. it wasn't bad for chain food. i had some champagne and o.j. we split some hummus. actually i ate most of it because shea had the flu and wasn't feeling too sporty. then i had some crab cakes on buscuits with poached eggs and crawfish sauce. it was like seafood eggs benedict. i forget what the menu called it.
happy double-oh-seven

it is the second day of the new year. back at work as usual. i'm tired. i actually had to get up this morning and i am not too happy about that. the ride to work this morning was colder than i had expected when i left. we walked the dog and it was about 36 or 38 degrees. i left for work about ten minutes after i saw the temp. wore my knickers and they saved the day. those things are great, no matter how dumb they look.
mailed some things out on friday. then i worked on getting some more stuff drawn/painted so i could start the new year off right. hopefully i'll have some more stuff going out soon.
i love my new digital camera.
