..and we just sit here without opposable thumbs

rode to work this morning in the rain. it was so nice. today is the first day it has rained since i don't know when. i do know the last time i used my waterproof jacket on my bike was easter morning when it sleeted on me during a ride. so i guess you could say it's been a while.

...conduct experiments in static electricity

i got in to the office this morning and realized i forgot my keys. bummer. after i turned on the old computer and booted up my email i found that i had received an outstanding email from cole at one less car.

heyso your painting has been up in house for awhile and every one who comes over loves it! we have alot of cool stuff on our walls but no one cares about anything else besides yours its great. i just thought you might like to know.cole

so, that's awesome! everyone who sees this post needs to immediately go over to their website (www.1lesscar.com) and purchase something kick ass. pretty much all of their stuff falls under the "kick ass" umbrella, so finding something for yourself should not be difficult.

anyway, those folks are rad and we should all help them out by helping them promote bicycling. buy yourself a shirt, park your piece of crap in the driveway, and ride your bike to work or school or the grocery or wherever else you might be going.

sandwiches

other people's live seem more interesting cause they ain't mine.

it is a modest mouse morning here at work. trying to get some stuff out of the office for some submittal. i was supposed to go on a ride this morning but slept in. i was still sore from getting tattooed last night. i did ride to work this morning and it was nice. overcast and smelled smokey, i guess due to the wild fires happening in places nearby. the wind was blowing straight out of the east and into my face too. needless to say it was a slow ride in to the office this morning.

with a reverberating crash

i was up real early on saturday morning to meet peaches for a ride. he was sluggish and i was chipper, so the first part of the morning i spent showing my ass and making feeble attempts at going slightly faster than usual and just generally trying to test and irritate him. we met up with another one of his road bike croanies and did the airport loop. when we returned to the end there were two more guys waiting for us. by this time i was pretty well into it. call me what you may, but i was ready to start my relaxing ride about that point.

well, we continued west on summit to scenic and hooked a right, it was at this point on the ride where i lost my legs, if i had them to lose at all. the entire four man group blew past me like i was standing there waiting for the bus. here i am pushing and pushing and pushing and the gap is getting larger and larger and larger. i must admit, i was trying to haul ass, and i even might have been hauling ass, but those guys were like lightning.

finally i caught up. well, more like they were waiting on me, which was nice of them. and we rounded out at thirty miles. only ten more miles left. i bailed and went home at that point. i didn't have the nuts to continue. i played the sis, but i'm okay with it.

this week i plan on puting in some work and riding with them on every ride they do. i plan on overanalyzing every piece of data and every movement i can. my goal this week is to be an observer and to watch what and how they ride. what gearing they use and when. when do they coast? when do they brake? when do they drop the hammer and why?

as i said, my goal is to be an observer, but more importantly, an observer that can keep up. it is too difficult to observe from a mile behind everyone.

step into my office, baby

sleep.
alarm.
shower.
hangover realized.
back to bed.
get up, finally, and get dressed.
load the bag up and head out the door.

i had to go return some movies, so i took a nice and easy pace to the video store. dropped the dvd's in the bin and kept the same lazy pace back into downtown. finally rolled up to the bakery to get my croissants, remembered i didn't have any cash, so i jumped back on the bike to head around the corner to the atm.

hisss......

flat.

walked to the atm, then to the bakery to pick up breakfast, then walked to the office. i ate one of my croissants right away, the other i delayed eating as i was still feeling a little under par. about ninethirty i was getting ancy. i was supposed to go run some errands but was now vehicle-less. i decided to walk home.

it was so nice out. all of the neighborhood cats were lounging lazily in their yards, the smells of flowers and honey suckle filled the air. people were out on their porches. the walk did me good.

drove back to the office and finished my day and ran some errands.

for dinner shea made us some boss tofu sandwiches. we lounged.

today i rode the tarmac to work. it felt odd commuting on that bike, but cool. the office has been scheduling a picnic in the park for today. and at eleven forty or so everyone headed down to seville park to eat and soak up some sun. it was nice. i've been back in the office for about thirty minutes and have been staring out the window at the sunshine for about twenty nine minutes.

at lunch someone mentioned it was supposed to stay roughly 74 with 40% humidity for the next seven days or so.

i feel some bike rides coming on.

jungle apparel

mable got a new toy on saturday before we went to the beach. it seamed to have pretty sturdy construction, similar to a messenger bag somewhat. unfortunately it only took her until sunday to put a hole in it at one of the seams. she doesn't seem to care that there is a hole in it.
these were the last pictures with the digital camera i got for christmas before i broke it.
