frozen alloe

for the past couple of days i have been battling with the thought of getting a new saddle. the volley of indecision is mostly due to the weight vs. comfort vs. price vs. everything else issue.
i love my brooks, but that isn't what this is about.

before plunking down any, or a lot of, cash i decided to ask john if he had one or two i could try on for size. i have ridden mostly brooks of england saddles, a couple specialized toupe' saddles, one or two selle san marco concors, and one incredibly old selle italia flite. the majority of my success has been with the brooks line - actually, i'd say about 99% of my success has been with these. but before i can claim they are the best i feel obligated to try the rest. or in doing so at least come up with a close second in the comfort department while reducing my saddle weight by around half.

off comes my trusty brooks and on goes the "potato chip" selle italia SLR carbon. seat post won't get high enough without passing the maximum insertion line. off comes the potato chip and on goes the selle italia flite carbonio.

i obsessed for hours over this.

this morning i am up and out the door by 4:30. meet up with peaches and then with john. i end up with an easy paced, yet hilly 51+ miles. i stopped once to make a saddle adjustment.

my next adjustment will be to try the SLR on a different post that i can get set at the right height. the flite is coming off.
