wow! christmas came and went so quickly this year. todd has been in town since saturday morning and we have been riding a lot.

this morning i got a short ride in before i flatted. i walked home instead of trying to find the puncture in the dark. no one else bothered to show up to ride this morning, i'm guessing that is due to the extreme dampness pensacola was experiencing this morning. i was left with my thoughts as i clicked up and accross the bridge in my bike shoes. it was actually quite peaceful considering that we having been going full throttle in the recent weeks as we tried to prepare for the holidays with friends and family.

tonight we are going to have a nice night of sushi. we are supposed to be meeting maggie and jeremy too, but we're going with or without them. i need something different than the meat and potatos and treats i have been stuffing myself with. sushi seems like the best possible option.

anyway, enough of this crap, i got a pair of rapha fixed knickers for christmas. i will share more a little later about these wonderful cycling britches. i also got a telephoto lens for my canon. good stuff i tell you. thank you shea. i also got a bunch of other nice things from other folks as well. thank you everyone for making my christmas rule!

on friday night we took part in our annual christmas party for my work. this year seemed better than the previous two years parties. not that they were bad, this years just seemed better. it was also the first one where we did a gift exchange, or dirty santa, or whatever you want to call it. there were a lot of gag gifts, as well as some pretty respectable ones. we walked away with a bottle of moet after holding on the the bart simpson chia pet for a while. not a bad trade if you ask me.

with shea working so much lately it was nice for both of us to get out and have a good time. maybe that is why this party seemed better?

it rained pretty much all day saturday and was cold yesterday. i took the dogs out to the trails to ride and it was a blast.

all in all, i have to say that this weekend was a good one. i got a lot of things done, i also had time to ride, and i also had some time to sit around and have some beers.

saturday after i got home from christmas shopping, before i left to go help grind up dead deer and drink beer i checked my mail. i had a catalog/brochure from rapha, the new routes magazine from adventure cycling, a christmas care package from my mom, and a white envelope with a return address that just read "fixed" and had an address below. i opened it up and low and behold there was this awesome cycling cap inside. dennis from the fixed gear gallery had sent it to me. i know because i received an email from him last week telling my to keep an eye on the mailbox. thanks dennis, the cap kicks ass and fits great! i haven't had a chance to ride with it yet but that will probably change tomorrow morning. thanks again!

on friday night i was kicking it at the house waiting for shea to get home from work. she called and sounded like she was having a bad day so i figured it would be nice to run up to the store and get her some frosty beverages to come home to. i also figured i might take a quick spin around the block once or twice. well, i leave the house and immediately after shutting the front door i realize i have just locked myself out.

i had a nice two hour ride waiting for shea to get home. i was lucky because my camera was in my bag so i could snap a couple shots. it was really foggy and there wasn't much going on downtown, per usual.

saturday i think i must have cross contaminated myself from some of the deer we were processing because after about five pm i was either on the dumper or laying on the couch with cold sweats. it sucked.

i cancelled my trip to baton rouge on sunday. i figured i had way too much christmas related stuff to do that can't get done during the week. work gets in the way, although it does provide some cash to keep us in the things we like, so i guess it works out somehow.

i rode around a little bit last friday night and when i came home i found this little guy hanging out with lyler. he didn't seem very happy to have run into the governor.

took my new allez out yesterday morning for a longer than usual jaunt to the office. i was supposed to meet up for a ride at 530a.m. but couldn't get it together in time. so i met the guys on their way back into town and then just cruised to work from there. that bike is smooth like r.kelly.. well maybe not so much.

jacob and i are planning on going back over to baton rouge this sunday to ride their velodrome. should be a good trip as i think we will be joined by a couple more folks this time. not sure though, he's working out the details and i'm just going to ride in a circle. . . er . . . oval.
